Say “Thank You”

I just finished writing a letter to nominate one of my mentors for a distinguished award at work.  It feels good. I know the person mentors me because she sincerely wants to help. But, this is my way of telling her, “Thank you for the many things you’ve done”.  Clark Moustakas wrote, “We can help a person to be himself by our own willingness to steep ourselves temporarily in his world, in his private feelings and experiences. By our affirmation of the person as he is, we give him support and strength to take the next step in his own growth.”

So, if you have a mentor in your life, send him or her a thank you note. It would give the person support and strength to continue his/her great work.
